JIMENEZ Scalp-Dura Retractor

Endoscopy can now help improve visualization during minimally invasive craniectomies for surgical correction of craniosynostosis. Dr. Jimenez and Dr. Barone, Department of Neurosurgery, UT Health Science Center San Antonio, Texas, first described endoscopic synostosis repair in 1998. This technique allows for a less invasive method of craniosynostosis repair.

The advantage of the endoscopic treatment is to minimize:

  • Size of incision, better aesthetic result
  • Blood loss, no transfusion necessary
  • Length of hospital stay

The new KARL STORZ Endoscopic Scalp-Dura Retractor acc. JIMENEZ is an integrated solution for access and visualization allowing the single surgeon to perform the procedures comfortably.

The KARL STORZ Scalp-Dura Retractor is demountable and offers good cleaning possibilities as well as autoclave ability. The device is delivered with four exchangeable blades in two widths – 5 mm and 10 mm – which offer flexibility depending on the indication.
