PFM Medical was founded in 1971 by Jürgen Wolter as 'pfm Plastik für die Medizin GmbH'. The first years the 'pfm Plastik für die Medizin GmbH' primarily acted as a distributor in the medical market. The Japanese company FEATHER (Scalpels and Blades) and the former Danish company Unomedical, now a Convatec company (disposable products) were on board from the very beginning as exclusive and strategic partners.Since 1979, pfm medical has established development and manufacturing plants for pfm medical products at various locations in Germany, Switzerland, and USA. Beyond this, the pfm medical group comprises several distribution companies and 380 employees spread across four continents. The head office is located in Cologne, Germany.The pfm medical portfolio has developed over many years of experience and reflects major areas of application in medical practice: Histotechnology, Therapy Management, OR Services, Surgical Implants and Cardio Vascular Technologies.
