Established in 1970, Irish Hospital Supplies is a leading distributor of medical and surgical equipment and supply an extensive range of high-quality disposable and capital equipment from some of the most innovative brands within the healthcare industry. We are currently looking to recruit a Technical Service Manager to join our team.

The Role
The Technical Service Manager is responsible for leading and managing the technical service department. This role involves supporting both internal and external stakeholders in the delivery of a best-in-class technical service offering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of engineers as well as a service coordinator and an equipment coordinator.
  • Maintain a high level of support to customers including repair turnaround time, breakdown response time and on time routine servicing.
  • Advise and ensure all staff are up to date with technical training, best practices and monitor same by site visit and service/repair test result audits.
  • Coordinate test equipment calibration and keep files up to date in accordance with the ISO and manufacturers policy.
  • Work closely with suppliers regarding new testing methods, updates and advice.
  • Support the sales team with technical assistance and product promotion when required.
  • Liaise with customers regarding service contracts, quotations for repairs etc. It is also imperative to meet and build relationships with key hospital personnel.
  • Work closely with the sales and admin team on specific tender documentations and service pricing.
  • Source and interview potential new engineers/service administration candidates when required.
  • Ensure good customer relations are maintained with both Bio-Medical/Clinical Engineering and on the ground front line medical staff.
  • Plan and carry out new equipment installations.

Qualification & Skills

  • Qualification in Biomedical, Mechanical or Electrical engineering.
  • 5+ years’ experience in the Medical Device industry
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirement and managements systems.
  • Customer focused, well organized, and ability to manage and expand the technical service department.
  • Experience in managing projects with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to influence and lead change across all levels.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, organisational and planning skills.
  • Experience in the application of knowledge on standardisation to practice / process.
  • Excellent IT skills: MS Office skills to include, MS Teams, Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.

As a market leading distributor of medical and surgical equipment, we are seeking a Technical Service Manager in Bray, County Wicklow.

As an Irish owned company set up nearly 60 years ago, we distribute medical and surgical equipment along with supplying and servicing equipment from some of the biggest brands in the healthcare industry. We have a long standing relationship with reputable clients throughout the country. Therefore, due to our continued success and a healthy pipeline of work, we are seeking a Technical Service Manager in Bray, County Wicklow.

THE ROLE

The successful applicant will split their time between the Bray Office, on site in hospitals across the country and working from home, with the following duties:

Manage a team made up of service engineers and coordinators.
Advise and ensure all staff are up to date with technical training and best practices.
Support the sales team with technical assistance when required.
Liaise with customers regarding service contracts, quotations for repairs etc.
Strategise and install new equipment installations.

THE PERSON

Previous service management experience a plus but not a prerequisite.
Must have previous client facing experience in a medical or similar setting.

New Senior Engineer Appointment

Mark Rozbicki has been appointed to a new position as “Senior Service Engineer and Project Supervisor”. Marks new role will include the following responsibilities; Plan, co-ordinate and execute installation of large capital projects and lead the training and education programme for new starters.

New Quality & Compliance Manager Appointed

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Asma Tamar as the new Quality & Compliance Manager at Irish Hospital Supplies. Dr. Tamar brings extensive experience in quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and project management within the medical device sector. In this role, Dr. Tamar will oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality management systems, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and regulatory requirements, including EU MDR and IVD regulations. She will provide expert guidance on quality processes, identify areas for improvement, and lead the resolution of technical and compliance issues. Dr. Tamar will also support project teams to ensure timely and efficient delivery of projects, maintaining both quality and regulatory standards throughout.

Chairperson & Interim CEO

Brendan is a former Partner in Grant Thornton Ireland, which currently employs over 3,000 on the island of Ireland. Having established his own practice in 1995, which traded as Foster McAteer, he merged his firm with Grant Thornton in 2008. He has held several senior roles in Grant Thornton including Head of Advisory and Chairman. He retired from Grant Thornton on 30th April 2024 and established his own consultancy firm Ferness Consulting Limited.

His experience spans across several sectors and industries. A fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in Ireland (FCCA) he was its Irish President in 2008/09. He holds a Diploma in Corporate Governance. Brendan was President of Dublin Chamber in 2017, and Chamber Council member served as a member of the Audit Committee of Dublin City Council in 2011 and served as Chairman from 2015 to 2019.

In late 2022, Minister for Justice, Helen McEntee, invited him to chair the Cherry Orchard Implementation Board. Since retiring in April 2024, he has taken up a number of Non-Executive Directorship roles and was appointed Chairperson of the Irish Hospital Supplies Group in May 2024 and is Acting CEO pending the appointment of a new CEO in June 2025 . He is also a director of The Cosgrave Brothers Group and a member of the Residential Tenancies Board.
